VO Pro Tip: Crafting an Effective VO Website

Voice-Over Pro Tip

Making an Impression with your Site

Hey Reader,

Your voice-over website is essentially your digital storefront, and the homepage is where most potential clients will land first. They're often busy, and they want to find what they're looking for fast. So, how do you make sure your homepage makes a strong and effective first impression?

Here's a key tip for your VO website homepage: Make your main demo reel immediately visible and playable.

When a client arrives at your site, their primary goal is usually to hear your voice. Don't make them click through multiple pages or scroll endlessly to find your most important audio. Your primary demo should be prominently featured "above the fold" – meaning they can see and click play without having to scroll down at all. A large, clearly labeled play button helps too! For added convenience, consider making your demos and individual clips downloadable, so clients can easily share them or reference offline.

Beyond your main demo, an effective homepage also makes other crucial elements easily findable. Think about including individual clips categorized by style or tone (like "friendly explainer" or "authoritative corporate") so clients can quickly zero in on specific deliveries. If you have them, video reels or examples are also a huge plus. Make sure your notable credits are clear and accessible, and that your headshot is present and highlighted as well. These elements, when clearly presented, give clients a quick, comprehensive overview of your range and professionalism.

This strategic placement ensures clients can instantly access your work, decide if your voice is a good fit, and then explore the rest of your site with ease. It removes friction and keeps them engaged.

Take a moment to visit your own website right now. Are these key elements front and center and easy to find? If not, it might be time for some adjustments!
