VO Pro Tip: The Final Line in the Script


The Final Line

Hey Reader,

Have you ever listened back to a take and felt like the energy just... evaporated at the end?

It’s a common habit: we put all our focus into a strong hook and a solid body, but as we reach the final sentence, our brains subconsciously go, "Almost done!" The result is a last line that trails off, drops in volume, or sounds like we're just checking a box.

However, the last line is often the most important part of the script—it’s where the brand name or the call-to-action lives. If you lose the listener there, the whole spot loses its impact.

Make sure your last line lands with an impact, especially in Commercial scripts.

  • The "Physical Move": If you find your energy dipping, physically lean slightly closer to the mic, or try gently putting your foot down, or bringing your hands down, on the last line. That tiny bit of extra physical engagement signifying an impact can translate into your vocal delivery.
  • The Smile Finish: Even for serious scripts, adding a "micro-smile" to the final brand name adds a touch of brightness and confidence. It makes the brand sound like a positive solution rather than just another piece of information.

Next time you’re recording, give that final line the same (or even more) attention as the first. Don't just finish the script—land it.
